Holland House Infant School And Nursery

Happy and Hard Working

What have we been doing in school?

Article 22 (refugee children)
If a child is seeking refuge or has refugee status, governments must provide them with appropriate protection and assistance to help them enjoy all the rights in the Convention. Governments must help refugee children who are separated from their parents to be reunited with them.

The Rt. Hon Mr Andrew Mitchell MP Visit

Mr Mitchell MP came into school in January 2018 after receiving letters from children across the school in which they voiced their concerns about refugee children across the world. Mr Mitchell took the time to explain to the children exactly what the Government are doing to help refugee children to be reunited with their families. We were very proud of the children from Holland House and Mr Mitchell was very impressed with the questions that the children asked. We are pleased to say that the ‘Rights Respecting’ work of the school, led by Mrs Rodgers is having a hugely positive impact across the school. The empathy and understanding that our children are developing and demonstrating about global issues is astounding and their knowledge of the rights of all children as specified by, the United Nations Convention is truly impressive. Well done children!
