Admissions - Nursery

Holland House Infant School and Nursery School has a 26 part-time place Nursery class called Starfish.

From the term after their third birthday, children can attend for 15 hours per week in term time, either 5 mornings, 5 afternoons, or 2½ days on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning or Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday. Parents who meet the eligibility criteria, may be able to claim 30 hours per week. Please speak to the school office to find out more. 

Wrap around nursery care is available at Day Nursery.

To register your child, please visit the school office where we can provide you with the necessary forms for you to complete.  We do ask to see your child's birth certificate to confirm their date of birth and proof of your address. 

Places are offered in April/May of each year.

Waiting lists are currently open for Nursery pupils due to start in the next two school years.

 

Nursery Admission Criteria

  1. A child who has been in Nursery a 'rising 3'
  2. Looked after child or a child with a Special Educational Need
  3. A sibling either at Holland House or Town Junior School, who will still be in attendance at the time the sibling enters Nursery.
  4. Distance in a straight line from school.

Further places will be offered to the next child on the list if they become available.

 

Reception Admissions

If you live in Birmingham, you should receive information from your local authority (Birmingham City Council, Directorate of Children, Young People and Families) via post about how to start your child at school in Reception for September. You should apply online or return your completed preference from to Birmingham LA School Admissions and Pupil Placements.

'In Year' Admissions

We have 60 places in each year group, Reception, Year One and Year Two. In year transfer forms are available to parents/carers either directly from your current school or from the Local Authority.  They can be obtained by telephoning the Children, Young People and Families Children Information and Advice Service on 0121 303 1888 or from the School Admissions and Pupil Placements website: 

 

Application for a Change of School (In-Year)

Parent/carers should complete the 'Application for a Change of School (In Year)' form and return it directly to their preferred school.

 

Transfer to Year 3 at Town Junior School

To apply for a place in Year 3, please visit www.birmingham.gov.uk/schooladmissions. You will receive an application form and information about transfer in October / November. The timeline for applications is the same as Reception admissions.
